A few weeks ago, The Black Dahlia Murder announced the first leg of their promo cycle for their new album, Abysmal and it will feature Iron Reagan, Harms Way and Maruta. You can get those dates here. I noticed at the time that it looked like the tour was going mostly to secondary markets and that the band would be hitting the big markets with another leg.

Well, it looks like the primary market tour gets a much beefier bill as the band announced they will be joined by Goatwhore, Iron Reagan, Entheos and Artificial Brain (featuring Dan from Revocation). It will be really exciting for me to catch the opening two acts, as well as enjoy the rest of the bill. It’s pretty can’t miss.

There is no arguing this… the Black Dahlia Murder are one of the most fun bands to see live. And, some of you are going to get a chance to see just that this fall when the band heads out for the first leg of their tour cycle for their new album, Abysmal.

Whereas in the past, the band has made their way around the country with some of the more popular metalcore and deathcore acts, it seems like they are taking a more underground approach this time, bringing out Iron Reagan, Harms Way and Maruta. Sadly, this tour is nowhere near NYC (Syracuse is like a 6 hour drive, no traffic… no thanks!) but I’ll definitely be catching these guys as soon as they come around here.

Slipknot Announce 2014 U.S. Knotfest Featuring Danzig, Five Finger Death Punch, Volbeat + More

by Spencer Kaufman July 5, 2014 9:01 PM
Are you ready, Maggots?!? Slipknot have just announced that they’re bringing Knotfest back to the States for an extravaganza set to take place Oct. 24-26 in San Bernardino, Calif. The masked mavericks will headline two nights of the event, with a stellar lineup of acts filling out the rest of the the three-day bill.

The Knotfest announcement was made this evening from the stage at the San Bernardino kickoff of this year’s Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival.

Slipknot will headline the Saturday and Sunday bills of Knotfest, playing different sets each night. Meanwhile, acts like Danzig, Five Finger Death Punch, Volbeat, Killswitch Engage and Anthrax are among the other top-billed bands.

But it doesn’t end there. The Saturday and Sunday lineups will also feature Of Mice & Men, Black Label Society, Testament, In This Moment, Hatebreed, Hellyeah, the reunited Atreyu and much more. See the current list of bands below. The Friday night festivities will serve as a pre-party bash for fans who purchase VIP or camping packages.

Also, if it wasn’t clear that Slipknot are nearly done with their new album from Corey Taylor’s recent interview with ‘Loudwire NIghts’ host Full Metal Jackie, here’s some more weight to back it up. Fans who purchase tickets to Knotfest will receive a digital copy of the band’s new disc when it’s eventually released.

The San Bernardino event follows the announcement of Knotfest Japan, which will feature Korn, Limp Bizkit, Lamb of God, Five Finger Death Punch and more.

“Knotfest is a chance for Slipknot to bring the sensory-overload of a wild European festival — and now we’re coming for you, California,” says Slipknot percussionist Shawn “Clown” Crahan. “Playing two different sets over two nights at one location is a new experience in the history of this band. This year’s Knotfests in the U.S. and Japan are going to be on another level.”

Early bird discounted tickets, as well as camping packages, for Knotfest at the San Manuel Amphitheater & Campgrounds in San Bernardino go on sale Monday, July 7, at 8AM PT / 11AM ET, with VIP packages available starting Wednesday, July 9. For more details visit the Knotfest website on Monday morning.
